Libby's work embraces her enthusiasm for the modern with her reverence for the tradition of craft. Each piece reflects equilibrium between form and function, craft and design, hand work and machine processes. Intrigued by patterns of day-to-day living, she develops unique and artful solutions to address functional needs; quiet and sophisticated objects that represent the sensibilities and soul of the designer, equally satisfying the vision of the client.
An educator and communicator, Libby delights in sharing her experience and knowledge of elements of design and craft to aspiring woodworkers. She is a lead instructor of the Twelve Week Intensive at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, Maine, teaches a handful of adult education classes through the local high school and offers one-on-one instruction in her Camden-based studio. A graduate of Southwestern University (BA) and Rhode Island School of Design (MFA), she was the 2010 recipient of the John D. Mineck Foundation.
Libby's work can be seen at the Grovewood Gallery in Asheville, NC and frequently shows at the Messler Gallery in Rockport, ME
